By volunteering with Union-Snyder CAA, you are taking direct action in improving your local community and empowering your neighbors. Our volunteers have the unique opportunity to make a positive impact on individuals' lives through a variety of ways. Every task - no matter how big - has a significant effect on creating opportunity for residents of Union and Snyder Counties.
Year round, CAA has a variety of opportunities available that requires volunteer help. Browse the positions below to find a fit for you or your group!
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers free tax help to people who generally make $54,000 or less, persons with disabilities, and limited English speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns.

What: Volunteers are professionally trained by the IRS to provide free basic income tax return preparation with electronic filing to qualified individuals.

Who: Anyone over the age of 18 years old can become a volunteer with the VITA program.

When: VITA appointments typically begin in February and last through mid-April (tax day). VITA volunteers can work with the VITA Coordinator to set their own schedule.

Where: VITA appointments take place in Selinsgrove and Lewisburg locations.

On-Call Front Desk Receptionist
At times, Union-Snyder CAA needs help at reception to ensure that every customer is served efficiently and with respect. The On-Call Front Desk Receptionist will be contacted on days that there is an all-staff meeting or training or in the event of an absence from regular staff reception.

What: Volunteers are thoroughly trained by Union-Snyder CAA to answer and manage phone calls, walk-ins, room reservations, and basic office work. Every On-Call Front Desk Receptionist will have access to a detailed Front Desk Protocol to use as a reference guide.

Who: Anyone over the age of 18 years old can become a volunteer On-Call Front Desk Receptionist. This is a great position for people who have a little extra time on their hands and enjoy helping others!

When: Most often, On-Call Front Desk Receptionists will be contacted with at least one week's notice of need. At times, volunteers will be contacted for day-of help in the event of an unexpected absence from regular staff reception. Schedule can be flexible, though full weekday availability is appreciated (8:30 AM - 4:00 PM).

Community Volunteer
Community Volunteers are individuals who work as partners and members of advisory committees and consult with CAA staff, providing professional advice and expertise in areas critical to advocacy, special events, and fund development.
